Sustainable Design Architecture - LEED Faculty/ LEED Accredited Professional

Resource sustainability, green architecture, and environmental sensitive design are fundamental principles that go to the very core of the Architecture profession. These principles are not exactly new to Paul Goldsmith. Paul is a United States Green Building Council LEED Accredited professional, an expert in sustainable design, and champion of Harley Ellis Devereaux's development of design standards for projects seeking LEED certification. With over 35 years experience in architecture and construction technologies, Paul utilizes an approach to architecture based upon engagement that allows customers to better identify opportunities for sustainable design in buildings. He has managed and executed a wide range of projects throughout the United States.

Paul routinely speaks on the topic of sustainable design. Within a sustainable design approach, he views facilities from a holistic perspective, evaluating environmental performance over the life of the facility, and striving to achieve a balance between known standards and emerging environmental issues.

Paul was one of twelve founding members, founding board member and first Chairman of the Chapter serving two years in that leadership capacity. Paul remains an active member of the Chapter's Advocacy Committee whose responsibility is to " transform the building design market in SE Michigan through education". Nationally Paul has served on the Curriculum and Accreditation and Formal Education Committees of the USGBC. As one of seventy-seven national USGBC LEED Faculty he regularly teaches workshops for LEED for New Construction and LEED for Existing Buildings.

Additionally, for the past thirty five years, Paul has continually taught college courses at Lawrence Technological University's School of Architectural History, Building Materials, Building Systems, CAD and Integrated Design. The number of quality projects he has been involved in his career and at Harley Ellis Devereaux over the years, as well as the number of students that have gone on to successful careers in architecture, have been the measures of his success.
