Neighborhood Development Committee

Mission Statement

Our Mission is to catalyze the development of sustainable community throughout the Detroit Regional Chapter's geographical boundaries to enrich the lives of citizens, businesses, and the environment.

Aim Statement

The aim of the LEED-Neighborhood Development committee of the USGBC-DRC is to educate the citizens, groups, businesses, and neighborhoods and encourage the development of sustainable community.

We will advance the benefits of LEED-ND by consulting with and supporting our partners communities as recongnized experts in Smart Growth, Sustainable Community, and LEED-ND.

We will lead the enrichment of community by utilizing the Principles of Smart Growth and the LEED-ND Rating System to insure positive impact to social equity, economic stability, and environmental health of our partner communities.

Our successes can be measured by the number of citizens educated, the number of groups with which we collaborated, and the number of sustainable communties established within our region.  Our goal is to lead the establishment of ten Certified communties in our region within ten years.

Mission: To transform the way buildings and communities are designed, built and operated, enabling an environmentally and socially responsible, healty, and prosperous environment that improves the quality of life.
